3 Ways With... Boards & Trays

Wonderfully versatile and a relaxed alternative to formal serveware, here are just a few ways you can use boards and trays to display mouthwatering food.

1. Breakfast in bed

From a classic tray to a more rustic board, nothing beats leisurely mornings. Wonderfully lazy and luxurious, it’s what Summer is all about! Beginning the day with slow rituals allows you to make the best start and continue as you mean to go on…

For breakfast in bed, why not try our sweet and flavorful jam crafted from rhubarb and ginger. We think it’s best served alongside a fresh slice of just-backed brioche. Scrumptious! A homemade granola also makes a deliciously healthy option.

For the jam, you’ll need…

1.5 kg / 3lbs 5oz trimmed rhubarb, leaves and ends removed

1.5 kg / 3lbs 5oz white sugar

4.3 fl oz (125 ml / 8 tbsp) lemon juice

4 cm fresh ginger, grated

6 cardamom pods, seeds removed and crushed

2. Canapés & cocktails

Aperitivo hour is synonymous with the sunshine season. Easy and effortless, nibbles and light bites are perfect to graze on after hours spent in the garden, on the beach, or strolling farmers’ markets. We love arranging them on porcelain, brass or slate for an elevated feel. Now all that’s missing is an ice-cold refreshment. Wine, spritz or cocktail, the choice is yours…

Scoring you top host points, minus the effort, our Slow Roasted Pear Chips are served with whipped goat’s cheese, toasted pine nuts and pomegranate. A feast on the eyes and taste buds, the combination of textures is simply divine. Paired with our Rosemary Champagne Cocktail, it’s a match made in heaven.

For the pear chips, you’ll need…

3 firm, under-ripe Bartlett pears

¼ cup of goat's cheese, at room temperature

1 tbsp cream

1/8 tsp salt

½ cup of pine nuts, toasted

Chives, sliced

Pomegranates for garnish

3. Wine & cheese night

The most popular use for our beautiful boards and trays – and with good reason – natural wood is ideal for casual alfresco evenings, while polished marble makes a great impression at more formal dinners. Whether creating the centerpiece for your table, or brought out later as the final course, these gourmet displays are guaranteed to catch everyone’s attention.
